Well how exactly do you plan to play? Because you can mix a different variety of skills to combine into 8 and thats how it'll play. Believe me there isn't anything bad as long as you play it effectively just state how you would like to play when you examine the skills of each profession and I'll be glad to help pinpoint you the right direction and a lot of others would gladly help to.

id like to have beast mastery So i can get pets/monsters.

i would even say that a ranger/warrior is more dangerous in PVP fights.
i ve fought once a ranger/warrior and can say it was really hard to hit him with sword. because a ranger is verry good in evading. |

Im interested in the Warrior/Ranger build as well, Im actually more interested in the Apply Poision skill because it works for swords as well. Bleeding and poision would give the enemy a -7 health degen (same as being on fire) For much larger periods of time then any fire skill. You could actually just keep on switching back and forth and make it constant. I think beast mastery spreads any ranger out to thin so be carefull what you do.

I was just drawing up a W/Ra. I thought to myself: "I could leverage the armor penetration of Strength with a bow". The Ra/E I had drawn up wasn't using any expertise skills anyway (though he would benefit from lower energy costs if he put points into expertise).
The armor on a warrior is superior to that of a ranger for physical attacks, but a ranger will deal with elemental attacks better. The W/Ra will have 50% less mana regen, but can gain the benefit of strength skills (though most of these use energy rather than adrenaline) as well as strength and deal with physical attacks from other warriors more competently than a primary ranger. The Ra/W has the ranger armor with it's 3 pips of energy regen and higher base energy pool, but loses the armor penetration from strength and gains even more mana benefit from Expertise. The primary ranger will excel at protecting against elementalist attacks. The bottom line with both of these builds is this: what skills do you want to use? Are you planning on packing the adrenaline based skills of a warrior (most of which are tuned to a melee attribute/weapon)? Do you just want to add ranger for ranged/bow base damage? It wouldn't be bad to land a cripple/bleed with your bow and then rush in to melee. My preferences lie to giving Marksmanship, Wilderness Survival, Strength/Expertise and a melee attribute. I think that Strength/Marksmanship is an effective damage-add in and of itself w/ armor penetration. This kind of build also allows you a certain degree of flexability - one day you may want to hang back (or the group composition may dictate that that's the best role for you to fill) while another day tanking/melee may be better. With the correct mix of skills at your disposal, you can pack what you need and be an effective part regardless. |
